What area should I look for a vacation rental in San Diego?

I'm confused by geography, San Diego. I would like to rent a house Vacation or condo for the week, but I'm not sure what area I should look in. I would like an area that is near a beach that my son 4 years can swim and play in. I want to be quiet at night. I would like is usually near Sea World, say less than a minute to 15. I was looking at the Mission area of the beach, but I think it is a kind of party area. Definitely do not want to be in a party zone.

Everything in La Jolla you can afford to do so. It is just north of SeaWorld. La Jolla Shores is one of the best beaches in the family! Everything is to the south in some areas, just north of the road and the noise of the train and continue driving to Sea World.
